Since two invasive water plants were identified in Clamshell Pond in 2018, Rauscher Farm volunteers have worked in coordination with members of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Division of Water Supply Protection to monitor and remove European Water Chestnuts and Brazilian Elodea from Clamshell Pond. Ongoing maintenance patrols by our volunteers and DCR water-quality experts have reduced presence of these two invasive plants to nearly undetectable.
