Pollinator Meadow Nursery

Under guidance of the Town of Clinton’s Conservation Commission and its appointed Rauscher Farm Management Subcommittee, volunteers have established an approximately 1,000 square foot pollinator meadow nursery in the pasture behind the farmhouse. Native plants have been selected to provide both pollen and nectar from spring through fall for native pollinators that are at risk, in particular the long-tongued native bumblebees bombus fervidus and bombus vagans. But many native pollinators will also be beneficiaries.

Site Preparation

As with all conservation programs on Rauscher Farm, no effort is implemented without consultation with recognized subject-matter experts. For the Pollinator Meadow Nursery project we are fortunate to have the guidance of Robert Gegear, Associate Professor at UMass Dartmouth, who is a recognized expert on native pollinating bees and insects and pollinator plants that are native to our area.
