Who Are We?
Friends of Rauscher Farm (FORF) is a group of citizens working to inform the residents of Clinton of the value to the Town of Clinton of preserving the 62 acres known as Rauscher Farm as open, recreational space to be enjoyed by the people of Clinton and surrounding towns.
Rauscher Farm is the last undeveloped farmland in Clinton. In March 2006, the owner of the property notified the Town of Clinton of his intent to sell the land. At the Annual Town Meeting in June 2006, Clinton voters approved that the Town exercise its legal right of first refusal under MGL c61A and purchase the land as open, recreational space to be enjoyed by the people of Clinton and surrounding towns.
At the annual town meeting in June 2007, Clinton’s citizens voted to proceed to a special election to vote on a debt exclusion override to fund a 20-year bond that would fund completion of the purchase.
The special election, held on September 12, 2007, approved the debt exclusion and purchase of the bond.
Based on existing agreements, the Town of Clinton has until December 2008 to finalize the purchase.
